FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Fairfax County Public Schools announced on Wednesday that it’s installing weapons detection systems at scholastic football games.
The move comes as schools throughout the DMV take additional steps to add security at football games.
They say the OpenGate detection system is the same used at the middle and high schools in the district during morning arrival.
In order to attend, students in grades 9 through 12 will need to check in with their student ID and also wear a wristband that identifies them with the home or away school. Wristbands will be provided by the schools.
Anyone attending the games who isn’t a student at one of the competing schools will need to stop at the ID check to receive a wristband that shows they are not one of the competing schools. They mus
