CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner's Office has released an autopsy following the death of Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian woman who was killed in an August stabbing .
Zarutska, 23, suffered three stab wounds in the Aug. 22 attack on the LYNX Blue Line, but the neck injury proved lethal, according to the report dated Nov. 5.
The wound caused more than 1.5 liters of blood to collect in Zarutska's left chest cavity. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The autopsy describes how Zarutska boarded the light rail in Charlotte and was subsequently stabbed multiple times by a man sitting in the seat behind her. Surveillance video captured the attack .
Three sharp-force injuries were documented in the autopsy.
