The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted raids in multiple locations across Meghalaya and Tripura as part of a nationwide counter-terror operation linked to the Al-Qaida Gujarat terror conspiracy case involving illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

According to officials, NIA teams searched premises of suspects and their associates across 10 locations in five states — Meghalaya, West Bengal, Tripura, Haryana and Gujarat. Digital devices and incriminating documents were seized during the operation and have been sent for forensic examination.

The case (RC-19/2023/NIA/DLI) was originally registered in June 2023 under the UA(P) Act, IPC and the Foreigners Act.
