BOISE, Idaho — A growing memorial marks the North End intersection where a young Washington Elementary School student was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a pickup truck, flowers, ribbons and handwritten messages left by neighbors and classmates grieving the loss.
The girl died at a local hospital hours after the 4:45 p.m. crash at North Harrison Boulevard and West Ada Street. Her name has not been released.
Boise Police said preliminary information shows the pickup truck stopped at a stop sign before turning north onto Harrison, striking the girl as both entered the intersection.
Police on Wednesday announced the driver involved in the crash, now identified as Elvin Ramos-Caballero, was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the scene.
