NAMPA, Idaho — Centennial Job Corps is working to spread a simple message: We're open and enrolling with no restrictions.
The Nampa vocational training center currently serves just 52 students, down from nearly 100 enrolled at this time, a year ago, after federal background checks were paused amid the Trump administration's attempt to close Job Corps centers nationwide.
"The biggest hurdle we have right now is people just don't know that we're open," said Traci Jones, center director at Centennial Job Corps. "They don't know that we're enrolling students, and that's what we need help with."
Federal judges have temporarily blocked the Trump administration from shutting down the 60-year-old program, but the legal battle continues. In May, the U.S. Department of Labor ordered 99 Job Corp
