DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — After a stunning display of the northern lights over Ohio on Tuesday night, skywatchers were hoping for an encore Wednesday.

“It’s on my bucket list to come and see the northern lights,” said Ralph Ward, who drove from Pickerington to Alum Creek Dam. “I figured since everybody was seeing them from Alum Creek, I’d come up here instead of making my trip to Norway.”

Max Herz, a photographer, said the rare chance was worth the wait.

“Not every day you get a chance to see the northern lights in Ohio, here in the lower 48, so gotta take advantage while we can,” he said.

From Delaware, the lights weren’t nearly as visible as they were Tuesday, but that didn’t stop families from turning their eyes — and their cameras — to the night sky.
