A 30-year-old truck cleaner died after an iron rod fell on his head from the seventh floor of an under-construction building in Mumbai’s Andheri (East), while he was unloading paver blocks at the site on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Amar Anand Pagare alias Bala, 30, was working as a helper for a Nashik-based truck driver.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 11 am at Marol, when Pagare and his driver, Anil Kokane, came to deliver the consignment from Nashik.

The police said that the iron rod fell directly on Pagare’s head as he stepped down during the unloading process, while Kokane was resting inside the truck. Other workers at the site rushed Pagare, who sustained serious injuries, to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
