Baripada : In a shocking incident, a college student allegedly hanged herself after being scolded by her mother over her studies at Manatapal village under Betnoti police station in Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased has been identified as Laxmimani Murmu, a Plus-III final-year student at Mahatma Gandhi Degree College in Baisinga.

While the exact cause of the suicide attempt is yet to be determined, preliminary investigations suggest that a spat with her mother over studies led her to take the extreme step.
