It came from an employee who decided to resign after being asked to attend a meeting while on approved leave — a request that should never have been made in the first place. The employee had been working for a US-based startup where late-night calls had become routine. But during a planned break, when the boss, fully aware of the leave, still expected attendance in a meeting, things reached a breaking point. When the employee didn’t join, the boss reportedly replied, “It doesn’t work like that. I’m disappointed.” That remark was enough to confirm what months of fatigue had already suggested: it was time to move on. The employee has since resigned and is now serving their notice period.
