Frankford officials are mourning the death of a longtime public official remembered for his love of animals and endless support for the people he served.

Emery "Sam" Castimore Jr. died Nov. 9 at age 75 after battling cancer for nearly 20 years, the Frankford Township Facebook page announced . He was a member of the Township Committee from 2010 until his death, including several stints as mayor.

"Sam was a warrior in every sense and an honorable man who loved and served his community for decades," the post read. "He will be greatly missed by so many."
