SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - An Akron man pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with the 2020 murder of an eight-year-old girl.
Robert Scott’s jury trial was scheduled to begin Wednesday morning; however, Scott ended up pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault.
Scott, 24, had originally been charged with complicity to commit aggravated murder, complicity to commit murder, and complicity to commit felonious assault.
Mikayla Pickett died after being shot at a birthday party in the 700 block of Roselle Ave. just before midnight on Aug. 15, 2020.
A 14-year-old girl was also shot in the leg at the same party and suffered minor injuries.
Both victims were caught in the crossfire.
Scott was taken into custody in April 2023.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 26.
