The Town of Victoria Park began the rollout of Food Organics, Garden Organics bins this week but warn that incorrect use will result in more costs for everyone.

The town has said if residents put the wrong items in FOGO bins, it will affect the quality of the compost and lead to increased processing costs.

“The more we contaminate, the more we all pay,” the town site states.

Phase one of the rollout began Monday, with households that currently have a lime-green garden organics bin making the switch to FOGO.

From August 18 to September 1, households that have the garden organics bin will receive a seven litre FOGO kitchen caddy, two rolls of compostable liners, a new waste and recycling guide, and a sticker for the lime-green bin.
