LAS VEGAS — Jazz Chisholm ’s service time was one of the many Yankees topics that came up Wednesday when general manager Brian Cashman fulfilled his GM Meetings media obligations in a 30-minute Zoom call. The Yankees haven’t decided yet if they’d like to seriously explore a contract extension before the All-Star second baseman can become a free agent after the 2026 season.
“Do you make a decision now or do you wait?” Cashman said. “I don’t have an answer to that question.”
However this plays out could factor in the Yankees’ long-range plans for shortstop Anthony Volpe, third baseman Ryan McMahon and even their No. 1 prospect, 20-year-old shortstop George Lombard Jr.
If Chisholm is still with the Yankees for 2027 and beyond, a potential middle-of-the-infield for the future — Lomba
