CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Five people are without a home after a house fire on Whitemarsh early Thursday morning, according to the Chatham County Fire Department.

In a social media post , officials say Chatham County Fire crews responded to a house fire on Reita Street around 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters saw visible smoke and began to put out the fire, which started in a kitchen.

Five people were displaced. CCFD has contacted the Georgia Red Cross for assistance.
