NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The I-190 southbound bridge over Niagara Falls Boulevard will be closed until further notice after a truck crashed into it.

The NYSDOT tells 2 On Your Side that crews are assessing the condition of the bridge after a truck carrying a shipping container hit the structure this morning.

"Safety is always NYSDOT’s top priority and we will keep the community apprised of further developments as we determine next steps," according to Ryan Whalen, a spokesperson for the DOT.

He added, "In the meantime, motorists should anticipate delays and seek alternate routes if possible."
