Nine months after issuing a controversial ruling against the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association overturning the disqualification of former St. John Vianney wrestler Anthony Knox, allowing Knox to compete for and win his fourth straight state wrestling crown, Mercer County Superior Court judge Patrick J. Bartels was once again presiding over a case with the state’s governing body for high school athletics as the defendant.
Back in March, Bartels ruled that Knox was eligible to wrestle in the remainder of the 2025 NJSIAA wrestling postseason after the NJSIAA initially banned Knox for his involvement in a brawl that occurred at the District 27 tournament in Collingswood.
This time, however, Bartels sided with the NJSIAA, as 15 parents of Freehold Township boys soccer
