McALESTER − Gov. Kevin Stitt granted clemency to convicted murderer Tremane Wood minutes before his execution was set to begin at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The execution was set to begin at 10 a.m. The governor announced his decision in a news release at 10:01 a.m.
“After a thorough review of the facts and prayerful consideration, I have chosen to accept the Pardon and Parole Board’s recommendation to commute Tremane Wood’s sentence to life without parole,” Stitt said in the news release.
