STILLWATER — In the wake of an unfortunate medical diagnosis last spring, Jhett Hejny discovered a new competitive passion.

But as the youngest of the three Hejny boys, 9-year-old Jhett’s emerging kart racing career was going to be parked for the fall when big brothers Hauss and Beau got back to football season.

With Hauss in his first year on the football team at Oklahoma State , the family would be traveling from their Aledo, Texas, home to watch the Cowboys every weekend, when the kart races were held at the nearby tracks in Dallas and Denton.
