AUSTIN, Minn. — Motorists traveling on Interstate 90 in Austin will need to detour for 24 hours starting Friday night due to construction work, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
I-90 will close in both directions from 8 p.m. on November 14 to 8 p.m. on November 15. This closure will allow crews to set up concrete barriers in the eastbound lanes. Traffic will continue through the winter between 4th Street Northwest and 6th Street Northeast near the Cedar River.
The 4th Street bridge is expected to open soon, providing access to the westbound on-ramp and the eastbound on- and off-ramps. However, the westbound I-90 off-ramp at 4th Street and the on-ramp at 6th Street will stay closed until the Cedar River bridge opens in 2026.
