WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has doubled down on the president's plan to send each American $2,000 dividend checks from tariff revenue.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday that Trump remains "committed" to the proposal and that officials are considering ways to implement it. Trump has repeatedly floated the idea, bringing it up again on social media last weekend, promising a check to every person "not including high-income people."
"The White House is exploring the legal options of how we get that done," Leavitt said on Wednesday during a press briefing , but did not expand on details. "The president made it clear he wants to make it happen."
