CEO of Seed Global Health and the World Health Organization's Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health Vanessa Kerry revealed to Newsweek on Thursday that she, like many others advocating for climate action, found Bill Gates' recent essay to paint a "very dangerous" reality for the future.
"I had to spend a lot of time pondering his message," Kerry told Newsweek 's Environment and Sustainability Editor Jeff Young. "He's not wrong in the fact that it's important that we improve human welfare, but... I think he gave a very dangerous offering about the urgency of the moment because it sends a false notion that we're going to be okay."
