WASHINGTON — Rev. Jesse Jackson has been hospitalized with a rare neurological disorder, his Rainbow PUSH Coalition announced.

The Chicago-based civil rights leader, 84, was admitted on Wednesday and is under observation for progressive supranuclear palsy, known as PSP. The organization said that Jackson has been managing the "neurodegenerative condition for more than a decade."

Jackson was originally diagnosed with Parkinson's disease over 10 years ago, but his PSP diagnosis came in April, according to Jackson's organization. It is not clear if Jackson has both Parkinson's and PSP, which have similar symptoms, or solely the PSP that was confirmed this year.
