ARDMORE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - A homeowner in Ardmore is speaking out after discovering her rental property in a deplorable state, leading to the arrest of her former tenants on charges of animal abuse and child neglect.
The shocking discovery was made last Wednesday after Katie Capley finally gained court permission to evict the family.
Capley had rented her home to Monica Elizabeth Tucker and Evelyn Rose Hill three years ago.
The eviction process began in July when the two reportedly stopped paying rent.
Capley was not prepared for the horrific conditions that awaited her inside.
“When we first initially came here for the eviction, I saw a mouse run across the top window,” Capley said. “I was like, that’s not a good sign if there’s mice in the home.”
