BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A special event at Birmingham’s Tuggle Elementary School happened Wednesday to try and get students ready for winter.
School children lined up for “Operation Warm Coat” to get a free coat and mittens to help keep them warm as the winter approaches.
“It’s special for our kids because some kids don’t have coats,” said Dr. Elizabeth Chiles, principal at Tuggle Elementary. “Some kids don’t have the necessities they need for the winter. So, for a company to come out and serve our kids, and give them a warm coat and mittens for the winter is phenomenal. Our kids could not be more grateful.”
The non-profit Operation Warm works with businesses and communities to make sure students get those essential items. Earlier this month, they partnered with FedEx Cares to
