A man's body has been recovered from a river in Wales despite a desperate rescue effort.

South Wales Police were joined by fire crews, ambulance, coastguard, and RNLI lifeboats after reports of a body in the water near Quay Parade, Swansea at around 7.40am on Thursday. A spokesman for the force said shortly before 1.30pm divers aiding the search located a man's body that has now been recovered.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Officers were called to the River Tawe at Quay Parade, Swansea at around 7.50am on Thursday, November 13, following a report of a person having entered the water.
