The Toronto Blue Jays could use another starter before spring training gets here.

That much is obvious. Each offseason, the Blue Jays seem to be linked in some way, shape, or form to the biggest names hitting the open market. This offseason, one guy who has popped up as a potential target for Toronto wasn't in Major League Baseball last season.

Tatsuya Imai, most recently of the Seibu Lions in Nippon Professional Baseball, is expected to get posted this offseason. Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins acknowledged that Toronto has done background work on Imai, as transcribed by Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith .
