BAY ST. LOUIS — A Waveland man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for possessing child exploitation material, Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced Monday.
Colby Isaiah Johnson was convicted of one count of possession of child exploitation material following an investigation by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office that began with a Cyber tip. Investigators found more than 1,000 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on Johnson’s devices.
On Nov. 6, Hancock County Circuit Court Judge Christopher L. Schmidt ordered Johnson to serve his sentence day-for-day in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole. Johnson, a previously convicted sex offender, was already required to register as a sex offender.
