The Seattle Fire Department is investigating after a kitchen fire broke out early Thursday morning inside a Green Lake neighborhood restaurant and spread into its ceiling.
No one was injured in the fire, which started inside Greenlake Bar and Grill, a restaurant on the corner of Northeast 72nd Street and East Green Lake Drive North and by the eastern edge of Green Lake Park, according to fire department spokesperson Grace Nuñez and Maddie Bush, a 22-year-old employee at the coffee shop next door.
Firefighters responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. to the fire, which had spread from the kitchen into an empty space between the ceiling and roof. The fire was extinguished about an hour later, Nuñez said in an email.
