MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - No criminal charges will be filed in the death of 52-year-old Damon Lamarr Johnson who died while in police custody in north Portland earlier this year.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced the grand jury decision on Thursday afternoon.

“I want to begin by acknowledging the tragic loss of life in this matter. The death of Damon Lamarr Johnson, it’s a profound tragedy for his family; it’s a profound tragedy for our community, and really for everyone that was involved,” DA Nathan Vasquez said during a press conference Thursday.
