Actor Huma Qureshi has opened up about the shock and suspicion that greeted her first-ever film offer at home. In a recent interview, the Maharani star revealed that her parents were so alarmed by the idea of someone approaching their daughter for a movie role that they genuinely believed it was a “prostitution racket."

“My parents didn’t believe it at all"

Speaking to Mid-day India, Huma recalled the moment she first expressed her desire to enter Bollywood — and how little faith her family had in the legitimacy of the opportunity.

“My parents didn’t believe it," she said. “They thought, why would somebody cast you? I think it was the most audacious thing they had heard. They thought it was a prostitution racket; they were convinced."
