New Orleans Pelicans’ forward Zion Williamson is a step closer to returning.

The Pelicans announced Thursday that Williamson has been cleared to resume on-court basketball activities.

Williamson was diagnosed with a grade 1 left hamstring injury on Nov. 4.

The team will give an update on when he will be able to actually return to play in games later.

The Pelicans next game is Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers. They follow that up with games on Sunday (Golden State Warriors), Monday (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Wednesday (Denver Nuggets).

Pelicans’ coach Willie Green was asked after Thursday’s practice if there was a chance Williamson could return for this current homestand.
