A couple who saved for four years and made cutbacks to secure a £20,000 deposit for their first home have revealed the frustrations of getting on the housing ladder.

Lottie Rossington and wife Kelly McCall, who are both 35, live in Hyde in Tameside, Greater Manchester and desperately want to buy their first home.

However, despite having a healthy household income of more than £80,000 and slashing their outgoings to save money for a house deposit , they say it is a struggle to afford a suitable first home.

Pub manager Lottie, and Kelly, an operations supervisor for a security company, live in the flat above the pub where Lottie works and have saved up for the last four years to get together a deposit of £20,000.
