PORT NECHES, Texas — The City of Port Neches will hold a special election on Saturday, Dec. 13 to fill two positions: mayor and the Place 4 city council seat.
The election follows the death of Mayor Glenn Johnson earlier this year. Early voting begins on Dec. 1 and voting will only be available at Port Neches City Hall.
Place 5 Council Member Terry Schwertner and former Place 4 Council Member Robert Arnold are competing for mayor. Both served on city council with Johnson and said they want to honor his work and continue his commitment to the city.
Schwertner said he plans to continue Johnson's work on the riverfront.
