North Texas Republican doesn’t expect another shutdown when temporary funding Ends Jan. 30

MIDLOTHIAN, Texas — After seven weeks, the longest government shutdown in U.S. history is ending, but only because eight Senators in the Democratic caucus joined Republicans after a protracted holdout.

The funding bill then passed the U.S. House before receiving President Donald Trump’s signature. But it only funds the government through Jan. 30, 2026.

So, we asked Congressman Jake Ellzey , R-6th District, if he expects a repeat of what the country just suffered through.

“I don’t think so because the American people got hurt. All sides are paying a price, and especially the American people, the air traffic control, the military families, everybody has paid a price,” the Republican told us on Inside Texas Politics. “Nobody wins in this except our adversaries who are watching this overs
