Jessica Duarte, the wife of late food influencer Michael Duarte, is speaking out on the content creator's death.

In an emotional tribute shared on Michael Duarte's official Instagram page, Duarte said she's "struggled with what to do" since Michael's Nov. 8 death, "so I'm doing what feels right and that's sharing his stories." Michael Duarte, who went by the internet alias "FoodWithBearHands," died in Texas at age 39 after local police shot him.

"I feel so touched and proud to know so many people that he has inspired over his time here on earth," Duarte, who shared 6-year-old daughter Oakley with the social media personality, wrote on Thursday, Nov. 13. "I plan to keep his legacy going not only for him but his family."

She added: "He gave everyone every bit of him, so it’s my turn to give it back. I'm not quite sure what that looks like yet, but hopefully he will lead me on that path."

Duarte said a memorial service is currently being planned for Michael Duarte's funeral. Event details will be shared at a later time.

"Mike, I'm proud to be your wife, and I will carry that title with honor for the rest of my life," Duarte wrote. "See you on the other side, Daddy "

Michael Duarte's wife slams 'false narratives' surrounding influencer's death

Michael Duarte's death was confirmed via Instagram by Alooma Media Group, his talent agency, in a Nov. 9 post. A GoFundMe page, once linked but now removed from Alooma's Instagram bio, cited a "horrible incident" as the cause of the influencer's death, revealing he died during travel in Texas.

In a Nov. 12 statement shared with USA TODAY, Sheriff Randy Brown of the Medina County Sheriff's Office said that around 11:28 a.m. local time Saturday, Nov. 8, the office responded to a 911 call in Castroville, Texas, "regarding a disturbance involving a male subject with a knife acting erratically."

A deputy then encountered Michael Duarte, who allegedly was "making threats to kill everyone" and "attempting to assault Fire and EMS personnel," according to Brown. Following the officer's "multiple verbal commands" to get on the ground, the influencer allegedly "charged toward the deputy while yelling, 'I'm going to kill you,'" per the sheriff.

The statement noted the deputy discharged her weapon twice, striking Michael Duarte. He was later pronounced dead at a San Antonio hospital. The state's Texas Rangers are investigating the incident, according to the sheriff.

Jessica Duarte criticized the media coverage of his death in her Nov. 13 Instagram post. While she did not address the details surrounding Michael's death, she cautioned the public on jumping to conclusions.

"The false narratives are disheartening and disrespectful to the legacy of a wonderful man," Duarte wrote in her tribute. "This is an active investigation, and I ask that all media and the public refrain from sharing unverified information."
