[BOONE, Iowa] — Immigrant advocacy group Escucha Mi Voz Iowa expressed their dissatisfaction with the extension of the Iowa National Guard's mission in support of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The Iowa National Guard confirmed that the mission, initially directed by the governor in August, has been extended until September of next year. The extension involves providing administrative and logistical support to Iowa-based ICE officials as they enforce immigration laws.

The National Guard stated that they do not possess law enforcement capabilities.
