Over the past two decades, Trait Thompson has worked out any easy way to direct people to the Oklahoma History Center.

"Usually, if I mention, 'Hey, it's the building with the plane in the window ,' everybody goes, 'Oh yeah, I've been there,' or "I've driven by that building. I know what it is.' So, the plane is iconic," Thompson told The Oklahoman on a recent afternoon as the sun glinted through the towering windows of the museum's rotunda and reflected off the life-size replica of a Lockheed Vega airplane named the Winnie Mae.
