PHOENIX — Arizona is still one of the top states for data center construction, and the newest sites are no longer limited to empty desert land. Some are being built inside existing neighborhoods, including one underway in Ahwatukee.
A former business park near 50th Street and Ray Road is being transformed into Menlo Digital’s newest campus. The site, once known as Thistle Creek, was torn down to make room for what the company is calling a tier-three quality data center.
“They bought the property and tore it down and now they're building what we call a tier three quality data center in its location,” said Mark Krison, a data center expert with CBRE.
Krison said Arizona consistently ranks among the top five states for data center growth.
