KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Students in Professor Beth Meredith’s public writing course may not have known what to expect when they signed up.

Meredith had students get into teams and pick a local community cause to support and raise money for. One group of students chose to help out Battlefield Farms.

Their online blog details weekly posts about the students and the work they are doing for the farm.

“They’re not just doing an assignment, but they’re actually doing something meaningful,” Meredith said.

These students are calling themself the ‘Battleship 5’ as they work with the founder of Battlefield Farm to raise money for a refrigerated grocery delivery van.
