LYNNFIELD, Mass. —

A unicycling batter from Lynnfield is a New Englander at heart but a Texas Tailgater by trade . And thanks to an enthusiastic response from Banana Ball fans, Jonathan "Sunshine" Luders will get to continue to grace the diamond on one wheel.

"That was really neat to get fan-voted," said Luders. "And I am truly humbled and honored by that. So thank you to all the Banana Ball fans out there, really special."

How he made it to Banana Ball :

The Fan Franchise in the Banana Ball League allows fans to select three players from each team they want to return the next season. After that, the team's coaches can franchise up to either player. Anyone not franchised entered the two-day draft, which concluded Friday.
