FERGUSON, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Ferguson Police Department is raising concerns about the number of people hit by cars in North St. Louis County.
Police said a lack of street lighting on some roads, pedestrians wearing dark clothes and people not using crosswalks all contribute to the rising problem.
Captain Harry Dilworth said the number of people getting hit by cars in Ferguson is going up every single year.
Ferguson police told First Alert 4 some of the streets with the most problems are West Florissant, Hudson, North Elizabeth and Chambers.
Some of those streets don’t have sidewalks or street lights.
Captain Dilworth said the department is now partnering with UMSL to do a traffic study.
