SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The Siesta Key Crystal Classic International San Sculpting Festival is welcoming sculptors from all over the world to compete on Siesta Key’s world-famous sand.

There are 16 competitors; eight working as soloists with the other eight being duo teams.

The public can vote on their favorite, with the top prize being $3,000.

The sculptors have traveled thousands of miles to compete.

“I love sand sculpting because you get to make huge, gigantic sculptures really really fast and you get to carve anything you want and travel the world,” said Karen Fralich from Toronto.

“You get to hang out at gorgeous beaches like Siesta Key, and meet cool people and eat awesome food. What’s not to love?”

Another sculptor in a duo team traveled to Siesta Key from Europe.
