INDIANAPOLIS — Capt. Shane Foley will move into a new role later this month after 18 years of experience with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department .
He spoke about his vision for public safety as the new commander of IMPD's Downtown District.
"People come downtown, they live downtown, they work downtown and that they feel safe being here. That's going to take more than just IMPD," Foley said. "It's going to take our community, it's going to take all parts of our criminal justice system. But I'm committed to working with all of those to make downtown a safe place for everybody."
Foley takes on this new responsibility after multiple violent incidents downtown this year. A mass shooting downtown at West Washington and South Illinois streets in July killed two teens and injured five
