PORTLAND, Maine — The City of Portland has selected this year's Monument Square tree with plans to install it Wednesday, Nov. 19. In the event of inclement weather or rain, the installation will be the next day.
The tree is a 40-foot Red Spruce, according to a news release from the city. It's currently located at a Portland Housing Authority property at 9 Boyd Street.
“For many years, this tree has simply been part of the place our residents and staff call home," Leah Bruns, interim executive director of the Portland Housing Authority, said in the release. "As we move forward with building new housing on this site, it needed to be removed, and we’re glad it can continue to serve a purpose.”
