MAINE, USA — The U.S. Department of Labor has reversed its decision to stop enrolling new students at Maine's two Job Corps centers.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins' office shared the announcement on Friday.

Enrollment at the Loring Job Corps Center in Limestone and the Penobscot Job Corps Center in Bangor was paused in April , with the federal government citing rising costs and sustainability concerns.

The Department of Labor had also announced plans to no longer fund the Job Corps program entirely. Collins' office said the agency has decided to reopen enrollment for Maine after lawmakers spoke out about the long-term impact on Maine's communities.
