SPOKANE, Wash. – Gunnar M. Doughty, 33, was sentenced on Friday to 305 months in prison for the death of Dylan McCorkle, according to the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Court documents revealed that on February 2, 2024, McCorkle confronted Doughty at a house in the 2400 block of North Hamilton Street. After a verbal exchange, Doughty shot McCorkle in the head.

In March, a jury found Doughty guilty of second-degree murder. Prior to the trial, he pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm, related to the gun used in the murder.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Katie McNulty highlighted Doughty’s criminal history, reporting that at the time of the murder, he was out on bond for unlawful possession of a firearm. McNulty also emphasized Doughty’s repeated defiance of court
