MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - After 25 years in its Brooks Street building, Porchlight is preparing to move residents into a brand-new permanent supportive housing facility on East Washington Avenue.

The eight-story building will house Porchlight’s administrative offices as well as 70 efficiency apartments. Executive Director Karla Thennes said the move will give residents a fresh start in a space that is entirely new.

“We will have 70 efficiency apartments here for our residents. And then I will have 24 staff people here. And we are so excited,” she said. “Brand new, everything brand new. We can’t wait to move in.”

Thennes said each unit comes fully furnished thanks to developer LZ Ventures, community volunteers and two large grants from the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation and Endres Manufacturing
