SIMSBURY, CT. (WFSB) - The Honor Them Hockey Foundation held its first exhibition game at the International Skating Center in Simsbury, raising money for first responder mental health while honoring two Bristol police officers killed in the line of duty.

What started as a hockey team for friends of Bristol officers Sergeant Alex Hamzy and Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte, who were killed in October 2022, has expanded into a foundation supporting first responders and their families.

“We’ve really focused on trying to do things in their name and memory,” said Conor Hogan, Vice President, Honor Them Hockey Foundation. He has also been a Bristol police officer for 14 years.

The foundation raises money for first responder mental health resources, recognizing the challenges officers face daily.
