ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. — Louisiana State Police say the driver accused of a deadly hit-and-run in LaPlace early Friday morning has been arrested.
Investigators say 59-year-old Darius Crump was walking in the turning lane on Highway 61 near Hemlock Drive just before 6 a.m. when a Ford F-250 hit him.
Crump died at the scene, and the driver left without stopping.
Troopers later identified the driver as 24-year-old Gregory Cohn Jr. of Hammond. They located his truck at a mechanic’s shop and arrested Cohn at his home.
He has been booked into the St. John the Baptist Parish Jail on charges of hit-and-run driving and obstruction of justice.
State Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
