ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
More than half of Albuquerque's speed camera citations go unpaid , and the city claims it does not maintain a list of those cited, nor will it create one.
Dan Mayfield, spokesman for Albuquerque's municipal development department, said of the cameras last month, "We're trying to reduce injuries and reduce crashes."
His department oversees 22 speed cameras across the city, including one near Montgomery and Louisiana that catches more than 600 high-speed drivers a month.
Questions have arisen about whether city employees and elected leaders, whose salaries are funded by taxpayers, are among those caught speeding.
